Manga deserves to be read in every language. But translating a chapter manually takes hours of typesetting, cleaning, and redrawing -- a single 20-page chapter can take a team of 4-6 people several hours to process through the traditional scanlation pipeline. MangaGloss automates the entire pipeline so translators can focus on what matters: getting the words right.
We built this as a tool, not a content platform. You upload your own pages, we translate and return them, then delete everything within 24 hours. No catalog, no library, no distribution. We believe translators and scanlation teams deserve fast, affordable tools without giving up control of their content or workflow.
MangaGloss started from a simple frustration: translating manga was painfully slow. A scanlation team of 4-6 people -- raw provider, translator, cleaner, typesetter, proofreader, QC -- would spend hours on a single chapter. Most of that time went to manual busywork: erasing text in Photoshop, placing translations line by line, checking font sizes, fixing consistency errors. The actual translation was a fraction of the effort.
We asked: what if AI could handle the cleaning, inpainting, and typesetting -- the 90% that is mechanical -- and leave translators free to focus on the 10% that requires human judgment? That question became MangaGloss. We built the pipeline around a GPU-powered engine that processes each page in seconds, added an editor so translators keep creative control, and added glossaries so terminology stays consistent across hundreds of chapters.

Define character names, attack names, honorifics, and place names once per series. The translation engine uses your glossary automatically on every page, keeping terminology consistent from chapter 1 through chapter 100.
All uploads auto-delete within 24 hours. We never use your content to train or fine-tune AI models. There is no readable catalog, no browse page, and no way for other users to see your files. Your content stays private from upload to deletion.
Every translated page -- including on the free tier -- is clean. No branding overlays, no "Translated by" stamps, no forced attribution. The output is yours to use however you need.
MangaGloss was born from firsthand experience with the pain of manual manga translation. We spent months embedded in scanlation workflows before writing a single line of code -- learning what slows teams down, what tools are missing, and where AI can genuinely help without getting in the way. Every feature we build is tested against real translation workflows, because we use the tool ourselves.
Our GPU pipeline processes each page in about 6 seconds: text detection, OCR, neural translation, inpainting, and typesetting — all in one pass. The result is a clean, typeset page ready for review or publication.
